I am glad that this is the first randomly chosen album. I used to listen to this one a lot, and played selections on the radio years ago.
I treat it as two suites for flute and orchestra, with the addition of Ron Carter, which is never a bad idea.
It didn't hurt that Hubert Laws is from Houston, where I was living when I discovered the album. There are a lot of very fine jazz musicians that have emerged from there.
